Being a massage therapist you realise just how many people are walking around in pain. I wanted to know how to help people out of pain. So I studied clinical massage with the renowned Jing massage in Brighton. I learnt so much from this course and am always continuing to learn and add to my knowledge and skills
This massage takes a holistic approach like my other treatments, which means taking your physical and mental wellbeing into consideration but with a direct focus on pain relief
Whether its a mild, niggly pain that you just put up with, or a severe pain that's really having an effect on your life and restricting your movement
What is Acute & Chronic pain:
Acute pain – Sudden pain, usually caused by an injury
Chronic pain – Pain that’s been ongoing for more than 3 months
How it works
We have an initial 90-minute session, this will include an assessment where we go over your pain condition and do range of motion testing, so I can start to figure out what might be the cause, then we’ll move onto the massage.
This is done on the massage table and you’ll be asked to undress down to what’s required for the treatment. You will be covered with sheets / blankets. If you’re in too much pain to lay down, the massage can be done seated
The massage is always done with a relaxing, holistic approach and will include various techniques to free up restrictions, locate and reduce pain and increase movement. This will require a little bit of communication with you as I work, I will go over this with you in your consultation
How many sessions will I need?
The aim is between 1-6 weekly sessions, in my experience 1-3 sessions is usually enough, in severe cases it could be more than 6. You will usually notice a difference after the first session and will come in weekly until we see a significant reduction in pain, then we can increase the time between sessions
You will be given exercises to do at home between sessions (1 or 2), this is an important part of the treatment
Some conditions I treat include:
Sciatica
Headaches
Low back pain
Shoulder pain
Frozen shoulder
Stiff neck
Carpal tunnel
Knee pain
Foot pain
Whiplash
